Teacher Appreciation Week: Educate Orphans in Honor of a Teacher

Behind every new word taught, every Surah memorized, and every math problem finally solved is a caring teacher.

Teacher Appreciation Week is a time to celebrate the mentors who gave their time, heart, and guidance with unwavering dedication. Every lesson learned, from tying their shoelaces to analyzing Shakespeare, begins with a teacher.

Teacher Appreciation Week 2025 takes place from May 5 to May 9; in honor of the support and guidance of teachers worldwide, Muslim Hands USA is extending the same spirit of care and compassion by helping the most vulnerable in our community: orphans seeking an education.

The Prophet (PBUH) said,

"He who provides for an orphan will be just next to me in Paradise like these two fingers," showing his forefinger and middle finger."

(Sahih al-Bukhari)

Are Teachers a Living Example of Sadaqah in Islam?

Sadqah is a form of voluntary giving, expecting nothing in return.

Teachers devote hours guiding young minds, often without recognition, praise, or material reward. They sacrifice time, energy, and emotion with one hope: that their efforts leave a lasting impact.

Is this a form of Sadaqah? Many scholars agree that acts of service done sincerely, even without money involved, are a form of Sadaqah in Islam and that Allah knows best.

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said,

"Every good deed is charity. Verily, it is a good deed to meet your brother with a smiling face, and to pour what is left from your bucket into your brother's vessel."

Tirmidhī 1970

We often think of Sadaqah as something big like a donation, a meal, or a well. But the Prophet (PBUH) reminded us that even a smile is a good deed.

One kind smile from a teacher can brighten a child's day or shape their choices for years to come.

Is Supporting Education a Form of Sadaqah Jariyah?

Sadaqah Jariyah is an ongoing charity that never stops giving even after you have passed.

The Messenger of Allah said,

"When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (for the deceased)."

Muslim.

Yes, supporting education can be a form of sadqah Jariyah, especially Islamic education.

Whether you support a school, sponsor a student, or help build a classroom, you create a lasting impact that allows children to learn, grow, and thrive.

Every Surah memorized in a classroom you helped build becomes a source of reward for the child and you in the Hereafter.

💙Help Fund Education Today

How Does Orphan Sponsorship Help Children Get an Education?

Muslim Hands USA knows that education isn't just about classrooms; it's about giving every child the tools to learn, grow, and thrive.

Through orphan sponsorship, we provide children access to well-equipped schools, libraries, science labs, and sports programs to ensure a well-rounded education.

But we also know that education alone isn't enough. Many children in our programs have lost parents or faced trauma. That's why every sponsored child receives regular meals, medical checkups, and psychosocial support from trained staff.

Your Sponsorship does more than fund tuition; it helps build a support system around a child that allows them to focus on learning and their future.

This Teacher Appreciation Week, honor a teacher who shaped your life by sponsoring a child's future in their name.

Why Teacher Appreciation Should Extend Beyond the Classroom

Teacher Appreciation Week is about more than a gift or a thank-you card. It's about recognizing the power of those who give without expecting much in return.

What better way to honor a teacher than by helping a child who dreams of learning but lacks support?

Children around the world deserve the right to an education. As a united Ummah, we can create a lasting difference by supporting education for orphans in need.

It's a gift that reaches beyond the classroom and into eternity.

How Muslim Hands USA Supports Education Year-Round

Education is not a seasonal cause for us; it's a year-round mission.

Muslim Hands USA works in vulnerable communities worldwide to build schools, equip classrooms, train teachers, and support orphans with the necessary resources to succeed.
