Your Donation in Action: Saving a Child from Malnutrition

Mahnoor Rana

At just 14 months old, Mohammed Ammar, a Yemeni refugee residing in Aden, Yemen, faced dire circumstances. Struggling with extreme poverty, inadequate nutrition, scarce clean water, and a lack of health awareness, Mohammed suffered from severe acute malnutrition. His family, also refugees, grappled with anxiety, unable to provide him with the urgent healthcare he desperately needed.

The health situation in Aden is critical, with acute malnutrition rates among children under five at unprecedented levels. Severe acute malnutrition (SAM) has seen a particularly alarming rise rate, demanding urgent intervention. Many families like Muhammed’s have no hope of treating themselves or their children.

Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, Muslim Hands operates a clinic in Aden (Bir-Ahmed), offering free healthcare to hundreds of patients daily.

Mohammed was brought to the Muslim Hands Health Clinic by his father, as he was suffering from severe acute malnutrition, making him physically weak, prone to diseases, and in pain from weight loss.

At the Muslim Hands Health Clinic, Muhammed received comprehensive healthcare services, including treatment and nutritional support. The family's life was transformed through counseling, improved sanitation and health practices awareness, and relief from financial burdens. The collaborative efforts of healthcare professionals aided Mohammed on his journey to recovery, ensuring he received the necessary care to regain his health and well-being. Your donation played a crucial role in saving Mohammed's life.

Moreover, the clinic has substantially impacted their community by enhancing access to healthcare, improving health outcomes, and creating job opportunities. With a team of 18 dedicated health workers employed, the project has positively impacted the lives of 18 families by improving their economic circumstances, who help save thousands of children like Muhammeds' lives every day.

In the words of Muhammed’s father: "Our greatest hope for the future is to see our child continue to thrive in good health, reaching their full potential and pursuing their dreams.”

It is evident from the images above that your donations really do save lives. Muhammed is only one example of the outstanding services from the Muslim Hands Health Clinic in Yemen, and we thank you for your generous donations, as this would not have been possible without you.

Thank you.
