What is Qurbani/Udhiyah?
Qurbani and Udhiyah refer to the same act of sacrifice performed during Eid al-Adha. Qurbani, commonly used in Urdu and Persian, translates to “sacrifice,” while Udhiyah is the Arabic term specifically used for the animal offered during this time.
The sacrifice is carried out between the 10th and 12th of Dhul-Hijjah, following the tradition of Prophet Ibrahim (AS).
The meat is then shared in three parts:
• One third for those in need
• One third for family, friends, and neighbours
• One third for your own household
How does Muslim Hands select recipients of Qurbani?
Our teams work closely with local communities to identify those most in need. Recipients are selected based on clear criteria including economic hardship, vulnerability, and lack of access to fresh meat. Your Qurbani is delivered with care, dignity, and compassion where it will make the greatest impact.

As Qurbanis in each location have a set quota, we suggest you give yours as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
We only use animals that meet all Islamic guidelines:
- Goats and sheep: At least 1 year old
- Cows and bulls: At least 2 years old
- Camels: At least 5 years old
Each animal is healthy, ethically raised, and locally sourced with care.
We choose the sacrificial animals based on their availability and value in each location. Whether this is a sheep, goat or a share in a cow, the reward for your Qurbani will be the same.

No. Qurbani must be fulfilled with a separate intention and cannot be performed using Zakat. Optional Sadaqah may be used to help others fulfill their Qurbani, but not for your own obligation.
The final deadline is the third day of Eid al-Adha, but we strongly recommend donating earlier. This helps ensure your Qurbani is performed within the Islamic window and reaches those most in need on time.
You must make up for missing the Qurbani by offering the market value of one sheep/goat to the poor. You can do this through Muslim Hands.
