Turning Charity into Change

Ahsan Mehmood

Charity, also known as sadaqah, is one of the most important pillars of Islam. It is a sacred obligation that Muslims are required to fulfill. The Quran teaches that charity is a way to purify one’s income, to help others in need, and to build a more just and equitable society.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Charity extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire."

There are many different ways to give charity in Islam. Muslims can give money, food, clothing, or other necessities to those in need. They can also volunteer their time and skills to help others.

With all that's happening in the world today, it can be challenging to tell where your hard-earned funds should go. Muslim Hands takes away those worries. We are a global charity that is working to help people in need all over the world. Our work focuses on six thematic areas:

Food Security

Muslim Hands USA provides food to people in need worldwide, including refugees, displaced people, and those affected by natural disasters. Our Food 4 Kids program ensures no child goes hungry.

Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH)

Muslim Hands USA builds wells, provides water purifiers, and constructs latrines to ensure that people have access to clean water and sanitation facilities. A single donation of $310 can help us construct a tubewell and provide safe water to up to 4 families!  Rizwana’s Journey to Safe Drinking Water is one of many examples of the impact of your charitable contributions.

Health

Muslim Hands is dedicated to providing medical care to people in need, including those who cannot afford to pay for healthcare. Our Health Fund welcomes donations of all sizes. Feeling generous? At just $240, you’ll help us give the gift of sight. Muslim Hands runs its Cataract Removal surgeries in Pakistan and Mali!

Education

Muslim Hands USA builds schools and provides educational resources to children in need. Our Schools of Excellence offer scholarships and financial assistance to help students continue their education. For less than $2 a day, Sakina is now able to acquire an education, eat nutritious meals, and receive the support she needs to excel.

Livelihood

Muslim Hands provides people with the skills and resources they need to earn a sustainable livelihood. Our Hope Shops offer vocational training programs, and help people start their own businesses.

Protection

Muslim Hands USA provides protection to people who are vulnerable to violence, exploitation, and abuse. We closely monitor global relationships and swiftly offer our help to those suffering.

At Muslim Hands USA, we make sure your kindness goes a long way. Every donation makes a real difference in someone's life. Help us turn your charity into hope for many. Can’t decide where to donate? Opt for our 'Where Most Needed' fund, and we’ll take care of the rest.
