Rabi Hamadou: How Your Donations Can Ensure No One Sleeps Hungry

Muslim Hands

In the city of Niamey, lies a tale of struggle and hope of Rabi Hamadou, a 59-year-old widow. Her journey of loss, struggle and hardship, unveils the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.

When rains and flash floods hit their community in September 2020, Rabi and her fellow villagers were left destitute as their homes and livelihoods washed away in an instant. While the government and NGOs provided temporary shelter and emergency relief, the road to recovery remained far for families like Rabi's.

Rabi, a mother of ten, faced the harsh realities of life without the support of her husband, who had succumbed to illness. Tragically, two of her children also passed away due to the lack of adequate healthcare facilities. Left to fend for herself and her surviving children, Rabi's burden only grew heavier when conflict claimed the life of her son, the sole breadwinner of the family.

Struggling to make ends meet, Rabi runs a small shop from her house, where she earns less than $2 a day. With the nearest market 23 kilometers away, restocking her shop was not only physically exhausting but financially draining. The meager income barely covered their basic needs, leaving little to nothing for nutritious food or medical care.

Thanks to your generosity, Rabi no longer goes to bed hungry, and her family can enjoy nutritious meals without the burden of financial worry. With your support she received, a family food parcel which contains enough food to support a family of seven for a month. She can focus on restocking her shop and securing a brighter future for her children.

Grateful for the support she recieved, Rabi has a message for the donors whose generosity changed her life: "I am eternally grateful for the support we have received. Your kindness has given us hope and restored our faith in humanity. May Allah bless you abundantly for your compassion and generosity."

Looking ahead, Rabi dreams of a future where her family is no longer at the mercy of the elements, where they have a safe and secure shelter to call their own. With prayers in her heart and gratitude in her soul, she remains steadfast in her belief that better days lie ahead.

There are many families around the world that struggle from malnutrition, you can change this. From just $85 you can provide a Family Food Parcel and can ensure that a family does not have to go to sleep hungry.
