Fidyah for a Day: If you were unable to fast for one day due to sickness or old age, you must feed a person for each day missed
This Ramadan
Feed The Needy With Fidyah & Kaffarah
Who Must Pay The Fidyah
Fidyah is required when a person cannot fast for valid reasons and is unable to make up the missed fasts later. The donation provides food to someone in need in place of each missed fast.
The Fidyah amount is $8 per missed fast or $240 for the full month (30 fasts), helping ensure daily meals for those less fortunate.
Who Must Pay The Kaffarah
Kaffarah is required when a person deliberately breaks a fast and is unable to fast for 60 consecutive days as atonement. In this case, they must feed 60 people in need, ensuring their missed fast benefits the less fortunate.
The Kaffarah amount is $480, which provides meals for 60 people and fulfills this obligation.
